Upon arriving at Blue Leaf, the couple’s wedding cake instantly took my attention. In a brief moment, I was confused and I found myself asking why on earth is the cake topper bride wearing eyeglasses. I was either a creepy dude staring blankly in front of the cake in somebody else’s wedding reception or John and Diana’s party was just disturbingly entitled, but interesting nonetheless, Fierce and Fab @ 50! Further investigation confirmed that my always dependable common sense was absolutely right when I realized that maybe our bride wears glasses! (The latter, thankfully, turned out to be a 50th birthday celebration held at The Blue Leaf’s Silk Pavillon a.k.a. Cougar Town. Rawr!) And Diana looked good with glasses, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that I never really had a chance to meet her that way and during her wedding day, as my wife put it, she was just so radiant, so beautiful like a bride should be on her wedding day! =)

It was 35 degrees outside but it felt a couple more degrees inside San Agustin. Somehow I found a spot near the altar that I can comfortably sit and edit the SDE. I have everything under control and I’m working on a solid story. That’s until the anticipated exchange of personal vows of my very emotional couple didn’t happen. Right then and there, I swear my beard grew two inches longer. I have enough time, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that when I went inside the bride’s room that morning and got familiar with the personalities of those involved, visualized how the day will go down, I thought to myself well, I have one pretty good story to tell and an anticipated emotional exchange is the icing on the cake.

On the third floor of the Manila Peninsula, the couples are having the portraits taken. I was sitting in front of my laptop one floor below when I finally figured out how to compensate for the game changing surprise. After all, I’ve been around long enough to understand that it’s part of the job. Since I do not smoke, my way of getting some “fresh air” if you can call it that is going right in the heart of where the dirty work is happening and giving directions to my shooters. That’s when I bumped into the newly married Jasper and told me that the plan was the exchange of vows is to be done during the reception. That’s less than an hour before my sde was to be played! My beard continuously grew. I couldn’t be possibly any more lost in my entire film editing life but when the groom flashed me that oh so (better than mine by one and one-half pretty points) charming smile, I was thrown right back on track!

Slowly I change the way I write a blog entry. Noticeably I resize both the Hipstamatic print size and the embedded video. If gone unnoticed, the last three SDEs are watermarked with the PTV logo. The sticky post in this blog says it all and our whole team can’t get any more excited! Something’s cooking and it’s a brand new look for the PTV website and the whole brand!

In 2007, my team (back then it was just Gen and myself) launched our blog. It was funky and different and I felt that not a lot of video blogs then made you want to visit the site and just stare at the colorful graffiti header! I thought to myself it was so cool I am never gonna change it ever. Then 2012 came and staring at the puzzle pieces got a little bit too ordinary plus facebook came about and the whole perspective just changed.

I hate calling my films “product” and my name “brand.” It’s freakin’ commercialism, which by the way is causing the slow destruction of Boracay and, but hopefully not soon, Bohol, Palawan, etc. Oooh my point of view in the subject will go on forever but at the end of the day I am an entrepreneur and a little birdie told me that branding is very very important. Ergo, change. Still, I don’t want our brides and grooms telling their friends that they are PTV bride/groom or whatnot, I can live with the fame or the lack of it that my team and I currently have. I want our brides and grooms to tell the world that they had so much fun on that most crazy day of their lives and their awesome film allows them to relive it again and again. Hey, they don’t even have to say who filmed it, the name’s too darn complicated to pronounce, let alone remember, anyway! =)

The following film is no product. This is real people in the real world enjoying the best times of their lives!

Our website is undergoing an awesome transformation! I will be posting updates and recent developments until our target launching date which is June 1, 2012.

We are doing this of course for the betterment of all mankind! =)

the sky is separated from the seawater by a beautiful horizontal bright lights. manila bay was calm then and the free flowing beer made the view even better. just a few minutes ago, the sky was filled with the most awesome pyrotechnics one can have for his/her wedding day. luckily, raymond and patricia didn’t spend anything for the wonderful surprise. it just so happened that president noynoy aquino, while having cocktails at 1esplanade, was being presented by this fireworks display and we have the perfect view from the opposite side. truly, it could have been the icing on the cake but the couple’s tango was just so gangster no aerial aesthetics could possibly top it.

karlo and anna’s story starts way back when they were kindergarten and they have a photograph to prove it. =) during lunch, the bride happily told us the story of how her groom informed her that even back then, he already had a crush on her. of course she knew it was the kind of stuff he’d say to sound sweet and all and though she might not admit it, it seemed that the “kilig-factor” was just the same.

at exactly 3:17 mark of this film, my wife gen perfectly captured one of the most powerful set of moving images i have ever seen. right on the money! something when i watch it again some ten, twenty years from now will make my jaw drop, make me say some profanities before the word wow, and remind me of the moment when i first saw it and reacted the exact same way. i’d love to describe the whole scene but this you should see for yourself! =)

oh….and no, karlo and anna, you don’t have to thank us. we thank you for giving us the opportunity to do what we so damn love to do! thanks again for the cupcakes! =)

as if the hills were lit from behind giving the horizon a glowing illusion of the valley, the pitch black darkness gives emphasis to the billions of stars in the night sky. i look over to the other side of the van’s window, passing on the thought of my wife and her amazing ability to get some sleep during a bumpy ride, the postcard-worthy image i see looked almost identical. the view is just that spectacular. it’s half past three in the morning and the damn thing is keeping me awake.

four days ago, my wife and i got to experience sydney once again. it has been two years since we last strolled around the city, by foot no less, and in my opinion the city’s natural charm just never fades. being away from home, it feels good to meet new faces in crystal, my old time facebook buddy, her fiance and film enthusiast “cool-name” sebastian, and her younger brother “baby face” jansen who masterminded my eating of the roo burger! later that same evening, the trio treated us to some tasty chocolate snack from guylian. it was one awesome welcome.

some seven kilometers from the city, bondi beach has always been a place my wife and i wanted to visit. huge warning signs of strong currents and a history of rogue waves extinguished my urge to go bodyboarding as surfer after surfer passed us by. instead, we found a different adventure in the two kilometer trek to mackenzie’s point. by the time day two was over, i swear my legs were giving up on me. thankfully, through photographer extraordinaire nelwin (and tey) uy, we were treated to quite a few re-energizing bottles of corona by our new aussie friend evan and his lovely wife marvie. =)

the long drive to hunter valley the next day proved to be a blessing in disguise as our battered feet got some much needed though unexpected rest. i lost count of the hours that passed until we finally arrived at chateau elan’s magnificent luxury villa. thai food was served during dinner including a bottle of hunter valley’s finest wine as we got to know a little about the couple, whom we met for the first time that day. the big day was less than twenty four hours and excitement was in the air.

it must’ve been below ten degrees outside the reception area. from a distance inspired by the beautiful australian night sky, i hear nelwin uy singing an awfully familiar love song. a couple of tables away, a young lady had a drink one too many and her friends are trying desperately to talk some sense out of her. gen is almost done packing our stuff while nel’s wife tey is good and ready to go. the dancing and drinking was still on-going as stifled party music escapes from the room’s closed doors. as the physical and mental exhaustion slowly crept in, i realized that our third wedding in australia has come to an end. it was epic and i have the film to prove it!

three days into my three-week vacation, the longest since i began wedding filmmaking in 2007, i find myself in front of the computer and technically working as i blog about this wedding film we made a little over two weeks ago.

it was sticky hot in pampanga and summer has just kicked in. the bride’s make-up room was filled with laughter and crazy stories about dj and jovy’s love story. the best version perhaps and hands down the most amusing, was told by none other than the bride’s father. the beautiful soundtrack from kina grannis chosen by the couple themselves complemented their well-written vows. oh and i just need to mention, we had the best sisig served during lunch time, dj my man, you have got to give me the number of your supplier! =)

this was filmed twenty four hours before our wedding in australia, another film to watch out for. in the meantime, enjoy this one. =)

with a startled look, as if she didn’t understand the question, katherine answered when erron ocampo asked her “meron ka bang angle?” (pertaining to a woman’s best angle for close-up photographs) “uhhhm, wala naman…?!?” in a strapless vera wang, she was breathtaking! and it gets better! she’s only the first of the four gorgeous chan sisters to get married!

meanwhile, at the church doors, i bumped into miguel for the first time that day. i shook his ice cold hands and i can tell that he is very excited. he should be because his big day was about to turn epic! =)

i’ve been waiting for a long time to use this song from coldplay’s brand new album and i’m totally stoked that migs and kat chose it. it’s about time. turn the music up and get your records on people! =)

coming straight from a wedding in pampanga, i stumbled upon mon and july’s video that i’ve uploaded a couple of days ago. i’ve been meaning to blog about it then but my newly discovered tumblr blog happened and i got insanely addicted to it that i forgot the video altogether.

so today, after a warm shower, my daily fix of nba’s top ten plays, facebook gossip and whatnots, i have two hours left to pack stuff for this upcoming destination wedding and squeezing in this blog entry before i expire wouldn’t hurt so here goes.

i love each sde i make and i never get tired of watching them over and over but there’s something captivating about mon and july’s onsite video that it gets me hooked as soon as i hit the play button. maybe it’s just me. i must have watched it a couple of dozen times and i still enjoy every second of it. it’s gotta be july’s tear-jerking vow but them fancy crane shots doesn’t hurt neither. it’d be cool if i can get you to watch it more than once. =)

ooohh and did you know that weddings at work turned thirteen years old today? shout out to abet and benz for this awesome milestone! i am forever grateful, forever proud to be a part of the most fabulous wedding community in th philippines!
