april 18, 2009 – ferbrook gardens
vivere suites

i remember turning down the couple during the wedding congress last year because we were already booked on their wedding day. a week after, the wedding originally set for this date was moved and fortunately for me, i was able to save pia’s number on my phone. one phone call and we’re back in their wedding. i felt like i needed to share this story since we’ve been turning down a lot of couple lately because of schedule conflicts. as much as it breaks my heart, i can’t do anything about it. the best that i could do is to keep the couple’s number and hope and pray that the one particular december wedding will be moved so i can be a part of a wedding in bali, indonesia! and call them should the date re-opens. =)

it was the second consecutive morning wedding that we had this april. i found out, the hard way, that it is best to edit an onsite video indoors, preferably with airconditioning, during a morning wedding. it was so hot i was perspiring all over. plus, it was so bright outside i had an awfully difficult time watching the video preview in my laptop. midway through, i just had to pack all my stuff and edit inside the car. my highest point of the day was when oly ruiz walked by me, mumbling profanities because of the heat , sweating like mad. haha!

i had the chance to try out the new 70-200mm zoom lens that i bought for my canon 5d for the first time…and as expected, my newest toy didn’t disappoint. =) watch out for pia’s stunning wedding gown courtesy of cecilio abad in the young couple’s onsite video. =)

march 29, 200 – soka gakkai international-philippines

century park hotel

while everybody was at the beach or enjoying a five-star hotel pool, i was at home, under the scorching heat of the summer sun, perspiring heavily, as i finish up some back-office stuff. i am not complaining, i had my vacation and, as my facebook page told the story, i had hell of a great time. :)

all along i thought it was a christian wedding. *edit: i just got grace’s comment that their church’s name is soka gakkai international-philippines. haha, everything just goes crazy for me from 6 am to 11 am.* it wasn’t even close…then again, a lot of unexpected things happen during a wedding. :) i was fast asleep when they played roy and “my fellow archer”grace’s onsite video but the reaction i got from the guests (either that or the emcee having a hard time pronouncing my name) woke me up…

uncertain on how my work flow will be affected, i decided to use my new canon 5d the day after i got it. well, seriously, what difference will full hd make, right? totally beyond explanation…and for the first time ever, my ever so reliable sony vegas crashed on me! man!

it was another scorching tagaytay afternoon. armed with an 85mm and a 16-35mm lenses (special thanks to my good friend jayson arquiza for lending me his priced possessions…and by the way, the new website is kicking ass, my man!), i saw the world in a whole new light. i was, after all, limited to the 50mm i use for the d90. wow! the things that can be done with different slr lenses, my friend, is unthinkable!

the bride’s room had at least ten people with at least four different nationality at any given time. it was crazy fun. kudos to flo’s bridesmaid, dianne, for being a huge part of putting together the kickass party. :)
