this it the last video for the month of august. finally, i’m up-to-date with my blog. =)

last but definitely not the least.

fun-filled and gorgeous people gathered to witness the beautiful gretchen and the equally dashing neil exchange their vows in front of the altar.

as our style continue to evolve, my team and i slowly but surely gain little steps into mastering our chosen career that is wedding documentation. jorge and teeny’s wedding was an opportunity for us to try a different approach to our same day edit. yes, the mtv style with an alternative rock and roll music is still my weapon of choice any given time but my bag of tricks is getting filled up with new and may i say exciting stuff that we are yet to fully master. get ready y’all!

here’s twenty seconds of that magical moment in anamorphic widescreen!

joanna looked more like a flower girl than a bride until after she wore her wedding gown. it was a wedding filled with drama from the second we stepped into the bridal suite ’til the moment we left mandarin hotel. so emotional that i had two of my female shooters teary-eyed after listening to the beautiful speech of the bride’s brother. no kidding!

Summer: Well, you know, I guess it’s ’cause I was sitting in a deli and reading Dorian Gray and a guy comes up to me and asks me about it and… now he’s my husband.
Tom: Yeah. And… so?
Summer: So, what if I’d gone to the movies? What if I had gone somewhere else for lunch? What if I’d gotten there 10 minutes later? It was – it was meant to be. And… I just kept thinking… Tom was right.
Tom: No.
Summer: Yeah, I did.
[laughs]
Summer: I did. It just wasn’t me that you were right about.

it was the best dialogue exchange ever. the delivery of the lines are just how it was supposed to be – sweet and simple but painful nonetheless. i was left heartbroken and i friggin’ dig it. this is the kind of sh*t i paid to see. the original film was so good that i ended up watching it again during the preproduction for this avp.

it was supposed to be a simple photo montage but i had other ideas. when jerick and tanya threw in the 500 days of summer concept, flashes of my forrest gump and usual suspects parody came back. i was very glad to do one again. very glad, actually, that i had the opportunity to do this parody with a couple who were ready to do anything i’d ask them to do and provided me with more than what i needed (location/props/acting/singing-wise) during production. i just wish i saw the reaction of their guests after this video was played.

i’ve been having crazy and long days this past couple of weeks that i’m getting the feeling august will just pass me by. exhausted but still having a lot of fun, learning a lot of things in so little time, the exact opposite of what i thought i’d be some ten years ago. amidst all these, i am still aware that i owe my wife a honeymoon trip somewhere.

i’m often asked how long does it take for me to edit. truth be told, i’ll maximize every second available. no scripts, no formulas, everything on the spot edit. as the day goes by, the story of the video continuous to evolve into something almost one hundred percent different from the first cut when my team leaves the prep venue.

another frequently asked question is when is the best time to play the onsite video. well, whenever possible as long as one: the video is ready to be played, two: there are still people present to watch it and three: people are done asking you random stuff so they won’t do it while the video is being played!

another morning wedding down south. we actually had another wedding the day before at exactly the same hotel, church and reception venue.

karen was gen’s classmate back in highschool. understandably, my wife did more catching up with her old friend than shooting video. =)
