when i first heard and witnessed the capabilities of hd video recording of the latest iphone from apple, i was intrigued and i played with the idea of having one. in the end, continuously telling myself that i don’t need one finally convinced my mind into not purchase one. i do have my second generation handy dandy iphone 3g anyway (not the 3gs with video and autofocus feature,) and for just $0.99 cents at the itunes store i got me a video recorder with a quality worth, well, ninety-nine cents!

i actually got the idea of getting a video recording software for my phone from my good friends husband and wife who i fondly call jeff(erson) & (ramona)lisa and i remember telling jeff(rey) that i’ll someday use it in one of my onsite videos and i’ll show it to him. that’s before i knew how crappy the quality of the video my phone could produce.

since i didn’t have to do an onsite video, i finally got the chance to record my phone’s video recording abilities last week. the quality is better than i expected. i did no further enhancements and the old 8mm film effect is from the software itself. =)

iphone 4…i don’t need it, i’d rather get myself an ipad (or if i’m really lucky, my sister already got me one)…but since my wife accidentally soaked her nokia e71 while washing my underpants, maybe she needs a new phone…evil grin!

this, my friends, is a dream come true.

the experience was priceless. it was like i grew two years older discovering things along the way. at times i felt so friggin’ amateur and i learned that i’m not that bad of a director really.

my initial plan was to showcase what i can do with the crane since i got it just a month ago and i haven’t really tried it. but when my head started coming up with new ideas every trip back, i had to do it for the story. the first major mistake was that the two-day shoot took place before the script was finalized and i had to work around with almost an hour of footage. with our on-site production crew consisting of only three people (including myself and my talent), losing the original pair of slippers on the second day of shooting was an inevitable disaster. doing the voice over was the bloodiest of ‘em all (with myself making my talent literally cry at least twice.) i had to seek the help of my wife as reading with feelings coach. and scoring…i totally sucked at scoring the video. it cost me one whole day of editing/looking for music.

i thought man, i wish i could make this film look better than the poster and still, i wish i did. nonetheless, i had a great feeling of satisfaction with what i came up with. the blog premiere was a bit delayed but from the comments and reviews from my first invited viewers, i was blown away with the reception.

a film without a purpose is just a waste of time and my purpose (though i admit that this was not part of the original plan) is to try and help out the kids from this school in bulacan. here’s the deal: each elementary level have three classrooms with seventy pupils each. majority of these kids walk to school. most of them have no money to buy a six-peso ballpen…but one thing’s for sure, they want to learn. what my team and i will do is to go back there this coming june and distribute some school supplies to these children. we’re no superheroes and we cannot do this alone but we’re planning to start out with a certain level and try to make a little difference. we’ve got to start from somewhere and pray that maybe by next year, we can help more kids. maybe i can try to change the world one ballpoint pen at a time. i’m totally psyched to get started!

this is how i spent my holy week and it was the best black friday ever!

the wedding expo has come and gone and i would like to thank everyone who visited, stopped by, watched videos, booked us and shared stories at our booth last weekend. as always, the expo turned out better than we expected. =)

our 2010 calendar is still open but the available slots are few…and since march, is a huge month for phoeben teocson videography, i’m feeling generous. =)

two years has come and gone. two weddings at work top ten awards, the videofest, the international weddings. i’ve been to places i only dream about (for free). i’ve seen stuff i can only imagine, and i have assembled a young team of shooters and editors with the highest standards. i couldn’t be more blessed and yet i still feel like i’m new and i’ve got a lot more to learn…and man, i’ve never been busier in my entire life, and i’m loving every moment of it. =)

because we turned two and my wife turned twenty eight, for all bookings this month of march we’ll be extending the following freebies:

free high defintion coverage (output will still be in dvd but in much better quality)
free crane with extra camera! (worth P10,000.00)

in addition to this, we’ll wait ’til next month to adjust our rates! since we’re embracing apple tv full time, hd lovers can upgrade their package from bluray to a 160gb apple tv (yes, you’ll take a brand new unit home) for an additional P10,000 only. again, 2010 is almost closed and most of 2011 dates are getting crossed out pretty quick so make the most out of this month of march! =)

what happened during the last four days of our lives was nothing short of legendary. from a beautiful wedding to broken bones. from fruitshakes to pizzas to isaws by the beach. rain or shine, it was, is and will always be my paradise.

a high-def video capable slr is my weapon of choice any day of the week. =) during impromptu vacations such as this, i’ll get myself a couple of snapshots because, well, that’s what all normal bakasyonistas do…

my wife and i.

summer mode on! expect more photos with the rayban in different locations in and out of the philippines coming soon!

the ban

red coconut’s margherita pizza is the bomb! try it out with overflowing tabasco on it! i always come back for more.

red coconut

the infamous “karate” jump shots.

flyuing kick

did i mention that i am a local legend?

yeah baby

…but i’m no ordinary bakasyonista. i’ll document this epic moment with a video camera and make four short films about it!

a korean dude came to me while i was enjoying my board and told me that he dreamt of skimboarding all his life. what the heck, i taught him the very first trick i’ve learned…fall down hard!

when you visit boracay, and i know you will sooner than later, you have to try the zorb! a little bit overpriced in my opinion but still one hell of a ride!

watch out for the onsite video that is equally legendary soon!
